Pat parker
Pat Parker was an African American lesbian poet. Parker was born in a working class family in Third Ward, Texas. Parker was a political activist and partook in the Black Panther Movement, Women's Press Collective, and Black Women's Revolutionary Council. Parker also took leadership roles in women's issues regarding health, domestic, and sexual violence. However, Parker's poetry was central to her active role in the LGBTQ movement. Her frank language and direct presentation of events and images of injustices contributed to her political analysis of race, class, and gender.
